Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois
Johnston Legal Group has attorneys licensed to practice in Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois. John Piland is licensed to practice law in Texas and Illinois and Michael Johnston is licensed to practice law in Texas and Oklahoma.

Before joining Johnston Legal Group, John spent ten years working as the chief prosecutor and chief legal counsel for Champaign County, Illinois in his capacity as State’s Attorney. His Illinois license was utilized recently when clients required legal services in Illinois.

Michael became licensed in 2008 to practice law in Oklahoma. He was sworn in by a fellow Baylor Law School classmate and friend, Judge Judith Wells. Johnston Legal Group opened an office in Oklahoma City in 2009 to assist clients with legal needs in Oklahoma

The Whole Family
Recent Texas Christian University graduate, Phillip Johnston, joined Johnston Legal Group as the Director of Operations. He will be in charge of assisting the attorneys and staff. Phillip previously worked for Johnston Legal Group throughout high school and college in numerous capacities.

New Addition!
Johnston Legal Group is pleased to announce the addition of Ashley Groom to the as a legal intern. Ashley is a student Texas Wesleyan Law School. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Construction Management from Texas A&M University.

Friends of the Fort Worth Longhorn Cattle Herd
Johnston Legal Group is proud to announce that our firm is a founding member of the Friends of the Fort Worth Herd. The group’s mission is to support a cornerstone of Fort Worth, the Herd. The Herd is the world’s only twice daily cattle drive and celebrates the western tradition of Fort Worth.

JLG will partner with other Fort Worth business leaders in providing support to the Herd. The Herd provides a unique opportunity to educate tourists on the rich history of Fort Worth.

30 Years and Still Going Strong
Michael Johnston recently celebrated 30 years of practicing law.

Since his first day of practice, Mr. Johnston has witnessed many changes in the legal world. In March of 1980, twitter was a sound a bird made and word processing took place on an IBM typewriter. One constant, though, has been Mr. Johnston’s dedication to providing ethical preeminent representation to his clients and setting the standard for professionalism in the legal community.

Mr. Johnston’s career has produced many awards including:

Gained statewide acclaim for his philanthropy efforts with the community;
Holds an AV-Preeminent Rating (the highest) with Martindale-Hubble;
Recognized as an A.M. Best Recommended Insurance Law Attorney;
Five consecutive years of holding a “Super Lawyer” designation;
Citizen Advisor to Texas House Representative Lon Burnam on insurance matters;
Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Consumer Law;
Founding Member of the Texas Lawyers Network;
Expanded Johnston Legal Group from one location to five different locations across Texas and Oklahoma; and
Recognition as a Top Attorney in three different Texas cities.
