Mr. Schattman graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas in May 1994. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Texas in November 1994. Mr. Schattman was also admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1998 and the Fifth Circuit in 1997. He is also licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Northern (1994), Eastern (1996) and Southern Districts (1997) of Texas. Mr. Schattman is fluent in written and spoken Portuguese.
Experience
Prior to joining Johnston Legal Group, Mr. Schattman was a litigation associate with Fielding, Parker & Hallmon Law Firm in Fort Worth, Texas. During that time, he was first and second chair for Commercial and Labor and Employment matters. He has argued in front of the 5th Circuit twice on ERISA matters and first chaired a 5 day arbitration. He successfully appealed the summary judgment granted against the plaintiff in Jackson v Creditwatch and defended the Court of Appeals decision before the Texas Supreme Court. He also served as briefing attorney to the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals in Fort Worth, Texas from 1994 to 1995.
